Salcaprozate Sodium(SNAC)

● Name:Salcaprozate Sodium/Sodium N-[8-(2-hydroxybenzoyl)amino]caprylate(SNAC)

● Molecular Formula:C15H20NNaO4

● CAS Number:203787-91-1

● Usage:Used as a pharmaceutical excipient.

What's the Benefit?

Mechanism of action (how it helps with oral drug absorption)

SNAC is referred to as the "personal bodyguard", and its absorption-promoting mechanism has multiple synergistic effects:
1. Local pH buffering
●   Instantly increase the local pH in the stomach (forming a slightly alkaline environment), inhibit the activity of pepsin, and protect peptide drugs (such as semaglutide) from degradation.
2. Transcellular pathway promotion of absorption
●   SNAC binds to the drug molecules through non-covalent hydrophobic interactions, increasing the lipid solubility of the drug, making it easier to pass through the gastric epithelial cell membrane.
●   After entering the blood, it rapidly dissociates due to dilution and releases the active drug.
3. Paracellular pathway enhancement
●   Temporarily loosen the tight junctions between the cells of the gastric mucosa, increase permeability, and provide additional absorption channels.

Note: The effect of SNAC is time-dependent and concentration-dependent, and it is completely reversible with high safety.
